So, I was doing the artwork for X-ACTO this year in Austin, TX for SXSW.  Here are some great shots from the event.

I signed over 500 limited edition posters I designed and created more than 100 custom small canvases as well.  There were lines around the block with folks and media waiting to get some of my artwork…

My Partnership w/ X-ACTO for SXSW

I have partnered with X-ACTO ( http://xacto.com/ ) to do their artwork for this years SXSW (South by South West) Festival.  For those of you who don’t know what that is, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place every spring in Austin, Texas.  It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. In 2011, the conference lasted for 10 days, with SXSW Interactive lasting for five, Music for six, and Film running concurrently for nine days.

X-ACTO reached out to me to create an artwork-centric environment using my art to showcase the abilities of their products, which I use regularly to create my stencils.  Other than the use of spray paint, X-ACTO is the unsung hero of my artwork!

I will be there with them on the 7th & 8th of March.  The event is located in what we are calling the “Precision Pavilion.”  It will be located on the corner of Neches & 5th Streets and will run from 10am – 4pm on each of those days.

I will be giving away free art along with signed limited edition event posters I helped design and create.  X-ACTO will be giving away tons of free merchandise.

This is one of my older pieces.  I am finally putting it up.

I created this piece in 2012 because I was inspired by the perseverance of those during and after The Great Depression.  I wanted to capture the determination of someone who was willing to stop at nothing to secure a future for themselves and their family.  Someone who had the tenacity and strength to make it happen!  I love this piece.

This piece has shown in galleries all over the US and internationally.  I am finally making it available to the public.

I never endorse products!  When you come to my site it is to see what I have created next.  However, I could not resist sharing with you all the spray paint I have been using for the last several pieces listed on my blog and elsewhere.

The coverage is amazing!  It is laced with heavy pigments and dries insanely even and FAST!  The caps are interchangeable so you can have huge spray coverage or calligraphy like spray if desired.   The proof is in the details of my latest work!  Have a look.

Also, the caps don’t jam after a couple of uses!  I was sick and tired of buying expensive paint only to blow through caps at a ridiculous rate.  Not with Plutonium.

You can use the cans upside down if necessary which is huge!  If you use spray paint you know what a pain it is to have to tilt the work or the can to get what you need.  The last thing you want is to be moving along and then no spray…

Another thing,… if you spray paint chances are you have to do it outside.  What happens if you have a bout of bad weather?  I use these paints INSIDE!  Good stuff!

Plutonium Paint reduces the carbon footprint of aerosol spray by 50%, by using a 70% pigment load and 30% propellant, making it more eco-friendly than leading brands.  No CFCs.

I have used more than 15 brands of spray paint over the years and I have finally found my brand.
