I am an internationally recognized artist who, through my work, seeks to utilize various harmonies and ideas to visually engage the audience. I also use my art as an opportunity to experiment with the range of possibilities allowed through my choice of materials, spray paint and hand cut stencils.
My work captures spaces of partial or full illumination between the perfect shadows on all sides of a person or an object. The artwork conveys the real beauty of the subject. The viewer is able to appreciate the simplicity, splendor and exquisiteness of my work and the subject. The work is raw, it’s stripped back, it’s honest.
I am vehemently opposed to using art as a means to rely on overly-complex theories or ideas to prop up mediocre images. I believe that the quality of the actual work is what is paramount.

This is stunning.
Wow, really amazing work you’re amazingly talented. You allow me to escape to another world with your work, thank you.
Wow. Loved learning about your technique. I have a picture similar to this that I took, of a building with fire escapes. I want to paint it, but I’m so intimidated. Your painting came out great!
I’m curious… what kind of board do you use for your stencils? 3-ply Carolina? 6? Something else?
I only use my stencils one time and then I destroy them. I use card stock since I dont need anything durable. I then free hand cut the stencil 🙂 This one took me months to complete
Interesting. I’ve made a couple stencils, but even Carolina board curls from time to time, and obviously, the thicker you go, the bigger pain in the ass it is to cut. Anyway, good to know, and as always, great work. I’m more of a lurker than a commenter, but your stuff is terrific.
pretty cool, how big are you canvases?
They range in size from small to very large. This one is 20″ x 16″
there is fantastic detail on ‘small’ scale for spray paint, assuming you use a spray gun and various size nibs, truly talented.
No I free hand cut a stencil with a razor blade. Then I use spray paint in an aerosol can. No spray guns.
amazing!
Thank you by the way.
Great work, Ray!

Love urban scenes!
Thank you
Awesome work!
WOW how cool!
Amazing!
A thought:
Have you ever thought of using your skills for theater scrim backdrops? Then allowing the theatre to sell the pieces once the production concluded?
You would get paid for the work, and the theatre could ostensibly recoup at least part if not all of their cost.
This one made me think of that. West Side Story. Rent. Etc.

Beautiful!
It looks just like a black and white picture taken by a camera of the real thing. Good job!
